March 01, 2012New iSkin claro Glam Protective Cover for iPhone 4 and 4S

ISkin-claro-Glam-iphone-Cover

iPhone 4 and 4S smartphone owners have a new option for protecting their device, with iSkin's new  claro Glam line of protective covers. Designed to add a little glitz and sparkling color to an iPhone 4 and 4S, these claro Glam covers embed a hint of glitter onto a transparent hard plastic, and are wrapped in a thin outer layer of a soft polymer for a good grip.

Available for $34.99 each in Cosmo (glittered pink), Bondi (glittered blue) and Vive (glittered purple) colors, the covers were made to go with your nightlife with an integrated flash guard that helps to eliminate glare while taking photos in dark environments, according to iSkin. The claro Glam cover is said to be specifically designed to be mated with the iSkin Glam Protective Screen Film, a glitter-bordered ultra-clear film that protects the front of your iPhone 4 or 4S device.

apple-iwallet-patent

Apple on Tuesday was granted a significant patent by the United States Trademark & Patent Office, Patently Apple reported. The technology, which is supported by 23 Patent Claims, allows credit card companies to send statements directly to a user’s iTunes account for purchases made using an NFC-enabled iPhone. Account holders will also be able to allow a secondary account holder, such as a child, to make purchases on the same card while allowing the primary account holder to control spending and implement various limits. Even though NFC technology has been featured in a number of Android devices, some believe that the technology won’t go mainstream in a number of markets until an iPhone is equipped with a mobile payment solution.

The Beer Drinker's IPhone Case

By Kate Knibbs | Thu Mar 01, 2012 3:25 pm

Intoxicase, an iPhone case and accompanying app, keeps track of beer-drinking habits, appealing to die-hard fans of both Apple and alcohol.

Apple iPhone 4SThe iPhone case features a sleek stainless steel bottle opener and comes with a free download of the Intoxicase app, catering to the beer-and-Apple enthusiast's needs.

The Intoxicase app counts how many bottles the case opens, and lets users share their alcohol intake on Twitter and Facebook. There's a competition feature, pitting users against each other to see who drinks what, and the app provides graphs illustrating the frequency users drink, and which brands they favor.

The app also features a tool that helps users find where they parked their car, and while its Blood Alcohol Estimator guesses how inebriated users are, the app lacks a feature explicitly discouraging drunk driving.

That may put it at odds with lawmakers clamping down on DUI-dodging apps, as its car locator could facilitate driving after a few too many. The app, however, also locates local cab services, so the responsible user will opt for a taxi instead of using the car locator.

The Intoxicase encourages drinking with an iPhone in hand, featuring fun programs and that handy bottle opener. Users interested in the Intoxicase could also have need of the Textalyser app, which prevents drunken text messaging.

The Intoxicase app is available for download for anyone over the age of 17, an age inconsistent with the legal drinking age in the U.S. The cases, made by Spicebox, are $35 and are expected for sale online soon.

T-Mobile Launching 10 LTE Devices 2013, Paving Way for IPhone

By Joe Arico | Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:37 am

T-Mobile plans to release 10 LTE devices in 2013, updating its network to become a better candidate for the iPhone.

The Bellevue, Wash.-based carrier said it would launch its LTE service in 50 different markets by the end of next year. In addition, T-Mobile plans to improve its HSPA+ technology to allow the iPhone 4S and future devices from Apple to achieve greater data speeds while operating on its network.

T-Mobile's 4G network will be compatible with a broad range of devices, according to chief technical officer Neville Ray. The carrier is missing out on some of the best phones manufacturers have to offer because it cannot give their devices the highest possible data speeds, making an LTE network a tremendous help to the company.

A high-speed network for T-Mobile, rolled out by 2013, will help level the playing field with competitors, once again making T-Mobile a practical landing spot for top-of-the-line devices and helping it bounce back from a failed acquisition attempt by AT&T.

The biggest victory T-Mobile could achieve from upgrading its network is the ability to offer the iPhone. The carrier has stated its desire to carry the device, but analysts believe the iPhone maker has passed on the company because of its poor data speeds. Apple would have little reason not to let T-Mobile have the iPhone if the carrier performs all the necessary upgrades to its data service.

One big question that remains for T-Mobile is whether it can convince Apple to let it carry the new iPhone when it launches later this year, with the promise of network improvements in 2013. T-Mobile lost more than 800,000 customers last quarter as subscribers continued to jump ship when the iPhone 4S launched on every other major carrier in the U.S.

T-Mobile can avoid more subscriber losses if it launches the new iPhone on its network later this year, but if it doesn't, the carrier will likely be in an even deeper hole.

T-Mobile will likely benefit from the upgrades its planning to its network in 2013, but if the changes can help deliver the carrier the iPhone this year, it could make 2012 a resounding success as well.

The Antennagate situation continues to haunt Apple, as the results of the class-action lawsuit against the company are out and are not in the company's favor. Apple will now be required to give either $15 in cash or a free Bumper case to every iPhone 4 customers in the US.

People in the US who have bought the iPhone 4 will have to visit the website www.iPhone4Settlement.com (which isn't working yet), where they will get more information on how they can claim their money or the free case. Apple will also be required to send a reminder email to its iPhone 4 customers before April 30.

As you may be aware, the whole Antennagate situation started with the launch of the iPhone 4 in 2010, where certain users noticed that covering the strip around the side of the phone during a call would result in drop in signal and eventually disconnection of the call. Apple eventually responded with a media event, where they offered to give free Bumper cases to iPhone 4 buyers but only till September 30, 2010. Following this, multiple lawsuits were filed against Apple regarding this situation, the result of which we are now seeing.

Thankfully for the users (and Apple), the iPhone 4S does not have any problem due to a reworked antenna system.
