Unannounced Curve 9320 resurfaces in hands-on images

The BlackBerry Curve 9320 was spotted first back in January when RIM's roadmap for 2012 was leaked. From the specifications it was clear that it is going to be an entry-level smartphone and a replacement for the old Curve 3G 9300.

The phone has now been spotted in India as BGR India managed to get an exclusive hands-on with the device. The phone looks very similar to the recent crop of BlackBerry phones, especially the Curve 9360 and the Bold 9790. The size of the handset was note to be just right, without being too small or large and despite the all-plastic design the build quality was said to be good. The phone was said to provide about a day's worth of battery life with heavy usage on a 2G network.

In case you are not aware of the specifications of the Curve 9320, it has a 2.44-inch, QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel fixed-focus camera with flash, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, expandable memory, HSDPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, digital compass, accelerometer and FM radio.

It's not a surprise why this new, yet to be announced BlackBerry phone, was first spotted in India. After all, it is one of the strongest markets for RIM, where it holds over 15 percent of the smartphone market and is currently at the third spot, behind Samsung and Nokia. The current low-end BlackBerry smartphones are a favorite among the Indian smartphone buyers and are often their first smartphones. So naturally RIM would want to push their newest entry-level smartphones in this lucrative market first.

Having said that, the phone will be making an appearance in other markets around the world as well. We will just have to wait for the official launch to find out which ones they are.

Acer CouldMobile shown off in a hands-on video

The Acer CloudMobile was recently shown off at an event in Milan, Italy to the press. The folks at Cellular Magazine who attended the event thankfully managed to get a hands-on video of the device in action. Unfortunately, the video is not in English but you can get a decent idea about the phone.

The Acer CloudMobile is easily the most interesting phone to have come out of Acer. In fact, it marena.com/acer_cloudmobile_wins_an_award_before_its_actual_annoucement-news-3809.php" target="_blank">won an iF design award even before it was officially launched. But it's not just the design that's great about it. The CloudMobile also comes loaded with some pretty great features.

For starters there is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available out of the box, which instantly earns it major brownie points. Next it has a 4.3-inch, 720p display with on-screen virtual controls, just like on the Galaxy Nexus. The device in the video above also has a separate row of capacitive keys below the display but that can be excused since it is a prototype device. The device shown in the press images does not have these extra keys.

Next there is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor on the inside, 8 megapixel camera, HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.

The phone is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next week, which is when we will find out more about it.

LG Optimus 4X HD, 3D Max and Vu get the hands-on treatment

The Italians are on a roll with the hands-on videos. After a hands-on video of the Acer CloudMobile by Cellular Magazine, we now have a trio of hands-on videos of the latest LG smartphones by Telefonino.net.

The first one, which we have embedded below, is of the Optimus 4X HD, which runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 4.7-inch HD display.

As you can see in the video above, LG's UI customizations aren't as extensive as Samsung or HTC's. You can easily tell that the phone is running on ICS, but they have added some touches that would help them differentiate their product without going overboard. The lockscreen, for example, is different, with a new unlock method, large date and time display and the presence four shortcut buttons below. The homescreen has a different dock and different animation for homescreen navigation. LG has also changed the way you add widgets on the homescreen by adding a Honeycomb-like drawer at the bottom.

The application menu is similar to stock ICS but includes another tab for downloaded apps. You can see more customizations in the video, such as the use of different icons and a navigation bar at the bottom of the browser.

LG's Optimus lineup hands-on - 4X HD, Vu, 3D Max, L7, L3, and LTE

LG will officially hit the MWC 2012 floor on February 26 - that's Sunday but we already have a pretty good idea what devices the Korean manufacturer will showcase. The Optimus L series was announced just a couple of days ago - the L7, L5 and L3. The 5" Optimus Vu was announced last week.

The LG Optimus 4X HD, successor to LG's first dual-core device - Optimus 2X, was announced yesterday. While the 3D Max went official two days ago.

So the cat is pretty much out of the bag prior to the Mobile World Congress and there should be no surprises. Now thanks to Italian website Telefonino.net there are a bunch of hands-on pictures and videos of the new LG Optimus smartphones, which we plan to organize for you guys to enjoy.

The LG Optimus 4X HD is LG's first quad-core device. On the front there's a 4.7" 720 x 1280 HD-IPS LCD touchscreen that offers around 312 pixels per inch. It runs on the latest Android version - 4.0.3 with a heavily customized skin over it.

The Optimus Vu is a direct competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Note. It has a 4:3 768 x 1024 display ranging 5 inches in diagonal. A dual-core 1.5 GHz processor does the heavy lifting and Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 runs on the front end.

Successor to the Optimus 3D, the Optimus 3D Max comes with Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and dual 5 MP cameras on the back.

The Optimus L7 got pictured too. The full specs are still a mystery, we know it's a dual-core device, runs Android 4.0 ICS and has a 4.3" "floating mass display", meaning its closer to the surface of the device.

The LG Optimus LTE isn't exactly new. It's almost identical to the Nitro HD, which we've already reviewed.

It too go a video preview. It's running on Android Gingerbread, has an 8 MP snapper, a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and an HD 720 x 1280 4.5" display.

Panasonic uncovers Eluga specs, live hands-on photos pop up

As promised yesterday, Panasonic unveiled the specifications of their Android smartphone dubbed the Eluga, expected to debut on the European market this March.

The poorly named Eluga is powered by a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor and 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which we have come to expect from high-end droids these days. At the front we find a 4.3-inch OLED display with qHD 960 x 540 pixels resolution.

It's also water- and dust-proof with NFC on-board. Remarkably, this hasn't made the device as thick as one might expect. The Eluga is just 7.8mm thick and weighs only 103grams, which, to bring it in a perspective, beats the Galaxy S II hands-down.

The reason for the phone's little hump at the back is the 8MP auto-focus snapper with image stabilization. Speaking of the back, underneath the back cover resides 1,150 mAh battery good for 300h of standby and 240 minutes of talk time.

The Eluga will run Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 when initially sold with Ice Cream Sandwich coming in the Spring of this year, or at least that's what Panasonic promises.

Pocket-lint.com have obviously managed to get their hands on the Eluga recently at the Panasonic Convention 2012 in Hamburg. They also tested the phone's toughness under water. Check out the photos below.
