As more and more devices begin to use quad-core processors, more developers are starting to optimize their apps to run on them. This makes even more sense for gaming apps which require as much processing power as they can get. The following video shows how these games performe when optimized for the Tegra 3 quad-core processor.
Fujitsu teased its Tegra 3 smartphone at CES in January and promised to tell us more about it at the MWC at the end of this month. As it turns out, the wait has been well worth it, as the prototype about to be showcased has more than a powerful chipset to show.
The company gave us some details about the smartphone in advance and we got to know that it will pack an impressive 13 megapixel camera and NFC connectivity. There's also going to be a fingerprint scanner onoboard, so you can prevent unauthorized access to your smartphone.
One of the coolest bits about the upcoming Fujitsu smartphone is that it will be both water and dust resistant. We assume it's using some kind of nanocoating as most of the phones from Japanese manufacturers demonstrated at CES.
Coming with a 4.6" screen, this Fujistu smartphone is shaping up to be one of the hottest smartphones of the season. We'll make sure to stop by the company's booth at the MWC and see if the actual product matches the high expectations created by those specs. Here's hoping!

Along with the two new ICS handsets announced yesterday, ZTE had another ICS-based smartphone to announce before MWC. This one is called the Mimosa X and will be running on the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. While that itself is nothing special, it will also be the first device to have the Nvidia Icera 450 HSPA+ modem.
If you're wondering what so special about that, so far the phones made with the Tegra 2 processor had to rely on modems from other companies, such as Qualcomm. Last year, Nvidia acquired Icera who also make modems for smartphones. This allows them to use their own modems in phones powered by their processors and the ZTE Mimosa X is the first phone to do so.
Other than that the Mimosa X is a typical upper mid-range smartphone, with a qHD display, 5 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 4GB memory, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. For any further information, we will have to wait for MWC next week. The phone will be launched in Q2, 2012.

According to the author of the leak, the specs we heard last time around were spot on. This means the LG X3 will be built around the Tegra 3 chipset, featuring four Cortex-A9 CPU cores, running at 1.4GHz. A 2000 mAh battery will make sure that there's always enough power to keep the X3 going, while the impressive AH-IPS screen will fill in at the front.
The LG X3 is said to have 16GB of expandable thought the microSD card slot internal memory, an 8 MP main camera and a 1.3 MP front-facing snapper. As it to be expected, the LG X3 will run the latest version of Android, 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, out of the box.
With specs like that it's no wonder the LG X3 puts the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to shame in the performance department. The quad-core LG monster achieves more than twice the score of the Android ICS flagship at Quadrant with the results distribution staying consistent over the different categories.
The LG X3 will certainly be a handset worth keeping an eye on and it might be a huge step towards improving the LG position in the smartphone game.
