Unknown HTC Handset Surfaces

Remember the HTC Incredible S from not too long ago, with its rotating capacitive buttons, 8MP camera and distinguishing back cover? Well, recently leaked pictures of an unknown HTC handset has us believing that the Incredible S is about to get replaced with an all new model. What specs does this handset boast?

Sporting a 4.3” AMOLED screen with a front facing VGA camera, the unknown HTC handset looks very similar to other HTC handsets when you look at it from the front.

Turn it over however, and you can see the 8MP camera and the distinguishing back cover which is characteristic of the other members of the Incredible family and the Rezound. I’d say it’s safe to assume that this may be the HTC Incredible 3 or possibly the Rezound 2. It can be confirmed, however, that the phone is heading to Verizon.

This Ice Cream Sandwich running handset packs a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM and seems to be running HTC Sense UI 4.0. As expected, it will have LTE connectivity built in and integrated Beats Audio technology. Although, in early 2012 these specs are not very impressive, it may be possible that this is one of HTC’s mid-level aimed phones rather than their top tier 2012 models like the quad-core HTC One S (previously known as the HTC Ville).

As you can see from the pictures, this handset has hardware buttons rather than on-screen ones, and strangely enough, it has 4 of them instead of the usual 3 buttons associated with Ice Cream Sandwich. Bear in mind, this is only a prototype unit so anything could be changed by the time it hits the market. Hopefully, it should be available sometime this year but we have no idea when. It seems unlikely that it will be announced at the upcoming MWC event but, *sigh*, one can dream…
